Patient Access Coordinator

Description
The New Patient Coordinator's primary responsibility is to ensure new patients have timely access to the region's largest group of cancer specialists. The person in this role will be the first line of contact for referring physicians, nurses, clinics and patients who want to establish care at the HSHS St. Vincent Cancer Center locations throughout Northeast WI.
Duties of a New Patient Coordinator:
  • Review and process incoming new patient referrals by reviewing patients' record to determine scheduling timelines and needs.

  • Contact patient to schedule appointment and provide additional details regarding the clinic and appointment.

  • Send new patient welcome packets.

  • Provide proper documentation of the appointment in Epic and route messages to all appropriate departments to ensure the patient's first visit to the cancer center is seamless.
  • Other office duties include assisting with phone triage and assisting the reception team with scheduling needs.

  • Monitoring several different sources for incoming referrals while simultaneously managing incoming and outgoing phone calls

Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to do critical thinking
  • Must be able to multitask
  • Previous clinic experience preferred
  • Epic experience preferred but not required
