Dr. Evan Wenig was raised in Oostburg, Wisconsin where he was immersed in a close-knit community and developed meaningful relationships with people of all ages. His family was in funeral service, which gave Evan the opportunity to work closely with families dealing with the complexities of loss and learn firsthand the power of compassion.
Evan’s path to oncology was deeply personal. His oldest brother, whom he never got to meet, fought a courageous battle with childhood cancer. Hearing his family share his brother’s story sparked Evan’s desire to pursue a career in healthcare and, ultimately, into the field of hematology and oncology.
The most fulfilling aspect of Evan’s work is guiding patients and their families through some of life’s most challenging moments, offering hope and support when they need it most. Evan’s dedication to helping others extends beyond his medical practice through his participation in church activities, community organizations and medical mission trips.
Evan appreciates the beautiful landscapes of Northeast Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, where he enjoys the unique charm of each season. When he’s not working, Evan stays active through running, golfing, and hiking. He also enjoys cooking, grilling, and traveling with his family. His greatest joy, however, comes from spending time with his wife and two daughters.
